DAY 1 – Arrival in Puerto Maldonado & Journey to the Lodge

Reception & Transfer

  • Reception at the airport or bus station by our guide or transfer staff.
  • Transfer to our central office in Puerto Maldonado.
  • At the office, guests must repack only what is necessary for the next few days. Main luggage stays in our secure storage. Duffel bags are available if needed.

Tambopata River Journey

  • Transfer to our private port.
  • Boat ride of 2–3 hours to Finca Sachavacayoc. Duration varies depending on wildlife sightings.
  • Possible sightings: birds, caimans, capybaras, monkeys.
  • Box lunch served on the boat (vegetarian/vegan options available).

Arrival at the Lodge

  • Accommodation and short rest.

Introductory Jungle Walk + Night Walk

  • Afternoon walk to explore the forest interior.
  • After sunset, night walk to search for nocturnal wildlife, including the impressive bird‑eating tarantula, as large as a human hand.

Dinner at the lodge.

DAY 2 – Chuncho Clay Lick & Tres Chimbadas Lake

Visit to Chuncho Clay Lick

  • Departure at 4:00 a.m., depending on the level of the river and parrots’ behavior; this may be earlier
  • 2‑hour boat ride upstream.
  • Breakfast on the boat.
  • Witness one of nature’s greatest spectacles: hundreds of macaws and parrots gathering to eat clay at the largest clay lick in the world.
  • Possible sightings: capybaras, caimans, jaguar, tapir.
  • We remain in the area until macaws are seen feeding (if necessary).

Return to the lodge for lunch.

Visit to Tres Chimbadas Lake

  • Afternoon departure, 1:30 – 2 pm start
  • 30‑minute boat ride + 25‑minute jungle walk.
  • Wildlife at the lake includes: giant river otters (resident family of 8), monkeys, hoatzins, caimans, macaws.
  • Paddle canoe excursion.
  • Piranha fishing (optional and free).
  • Return to the lodge at dusk, searching for nocturnal wildlife along the riverbanks.

    DAY 3 – Lake Exploration & Canopy Tower

    • Early breakfast
    • Visit Condenado or Sachavacayoc Lake (excellent for anaconda searching)
    • Return to the lodge for lunch
    • Afternoon visit to the 50‑meter canopy tower
      • Panoramic rainforest views
      • Canopy birds and possible monkeys

    DAY 4 – Return to Puerto Maldonado

    • Optional sunrise tower visit
    • Breakfast at the lodge
    • 2‑hr boat ride back to Puerto Maldonado
    • Assistance with flights, buses, or hotel connections. End of services

    ℹ️ Important Information

    • Piranha fishing is optional and free.
    • Guests with early SKY or LATAM flights will not have time to visit the canopy tower.
    • In case of emergencies or delayed flights, return may be partially by river and partially by road.

    Return Shuttle Schedule

    • Shuttle 1: 5:00–6:00 a.m. → flights between 8:00–11:00 a.m.
    • Shuttle 2: 8:00–9:00 a.m. → flights between 12:00–5:00 p.m., night buses, or hotels.

    Arrival Recommendations

    • Latest flight we wait for: Cusco → 12:45 p.m. You can arrive in that one or any earlier; in cases of later flights, transfer is by road and may have additional cost
    • For departure, avoid flights around 5 p.m., as the last shuttle arrives in town at 11 a.m., ideally midday flights
