PROGRAM ITINERARY.

DAY 1

Arrival and reception will be handled by our guide, or we will transfer to the airport or the bus station.

Our guides are experienced professionals with deep knowledge of the area and the rainforest,

Transfer from the airport to our central office in town.

Upon arrival in Pto. Maldonado City, our Transfer or guide, will welcome you and drive you to our headquarters in town for a few minutes.

In our office, it’s mandatory to pack only the essentials for the next few days; the main luggage will stay in our safe deposit. Transportation is easier that way, and to keep our boats and porter cargo light, we lend duffel bags at the office if necessary.

We have our private port by the Tambopata River.

We navigate up the Tambopata River for about 2-3 hours until Finca Sachavacayoc (time will depend on how long we stop to see wildlife).

On the way back, if lucky, we can watch birds, caimans, capybaras, and monkeys.

Box lunch on the boat. We can customize your box lunch with a vegetarian/vegan option.

In full company and orientation of our guide, we get to Finca Sachavacayoc

Accommodation and a Little rest.

After a bit of rest, we will go for a jungle walk as an introduction to nature and the forest interior; wait

until it gets dark to do a night walk looking for the elusive nocturnal creatures and critters, like the impressive ground bird-eating Tarantula (as big as your hand)

Dinner at the lodge

DAY 2

We will visit one of nature’s wonders, the spectacular Chuncho clay lick, the largest in the world. Here, the three major species of macaws get together simultaneously, and there are many varieties of parrots. Hundreds of parrots gather to eat clay —a unique behavior found only in this part of the planet.

We depart early at 4 a.m. and spend 2 hours on our boat upstream of the Tambopata River; to enjoy the best of the parrot show, arriving early before the birds is essential!

We will have breakfast on the boat or the riverbank while watching the Parrots show,

Along the journey to the clay lick, we have great chances of seeing Capybaras, Caymans, and maybe, if lucky, Jaguar or Tapirs (the two most special terrestrial mammals of the Amazon)

If necessary, we stay in the clay lick area until we see the macaws eating clay.

We return to the lodge for lunch.

Lunch at the lodge.

After a good rest, we get packed and ready for Tres Chimbadas Lake, which is 30 minutes down the river from Finca, then a 25-minute walk through the nice jungle to get to this spectacular lake with a resident family group of 8 Giant otters. Tres Chimbadas Lake has excellent wildlife, like monkeys, caimans, Hoatzins, and macaws flying by to roost. We also have the chance to go piranha fishing while taking in the wildlife and the lake’s beauty.

On the way back, we return to the lodge, trying to spot the nightlife along the riverbank; if lucky, a rare species may show up.

Dinner at Finca

DAY 3

Early breakfast at Finca Sachavacayoc, and upon coordination with the Naturalist guide, and according to your interest, we will visit either Condenado or Sachavacayoc Lake. In both, we can search for Anacondas; both lakes are the very best to search for them in the Peruvian Amazon, as well as other wildlife; both lakes are in the heart of the Tambopata National Reserve.

Return to Finca for lunch.

In the afternoon-evening, we will visit our spectacular canopy tower, the tallest and most robust of the region, 50m tall, to see canopy birds, possible monkeys, and a different and breathtaking view of the mighty jungle.

DAY 4

Optional visit to the tower before breakfast

Breakfast at the lodge and departure to Pto. Maldonado

The boat journey back to Pto. Maldonado takes 2 hours, and we have one last chance to spot wildlife along the riverbanks.

We will arrive at our office in town and help you with your scheduled flight/bus, or hotel.

End of our services.

PD: For those who want to experience piranha fishing, it is free and optional, just coordinate with Natiralist guide about it
